  Green Street becomes AXIOM December 2006

The mission of the Green Street Gallery continues to be: To move contemporary artwork into contact with a wider and more diverse audience, to redefine the term "Gallery" by opening non-commercial exhibition venues in existing pedestrian traffic patterns and to educate people outside of contemporary art's traditional audience and encourage them to experience today's art.

 

The Green Street Gallery, Boston's Subway gallery, brought contemporary art to everyone. Located in the Green Street MBTA station, this innovative, artist-funded and artist-run gallery produced nine years of free exhibitions open to all. Top quality, cutting edge contemporary art was exhibited at street level, featuring local and regional artists, both emerging and well established. The space continues to be a non-profit, artist-run space (now Axiom) made possible by The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and is supported in part by the LEF Foundation and the entire neighborhood. We wish to thank all of our visitors for their participation!
